Mindsets of a Good Counselor

 I. Introduction Every person has a mindset in helping people. There are people that has given us confidence in dealing with life issues.  Some of the mindsets that has help people in counseling is the ability to listen, to converse deeply and to the practice of empathy. Mindsets are part of a person's tools in helping people. Sometimes a mindset can be become a blessing and a burden.  II. Activity 1. There are many ways to help a person but counseling has been used many times in advice giving, coaching and other problem solving skills.  However, there are some legal parameters that a person needs to understand when he talks about counseling.  II. Moral Reasoning

 I. Introduction Moral reasoning is supposedly based on logical thinking. However, moral reasoning includes one's belief and biases. How can a person be objective with this moral reasoning? There are many situations that a person has a strong of moral reasoning in terms of religious, political and other sociological components. The recent scenario of a French teacher being beheaded for teaching freedom of speech has incurred the wrath of a religious community. Moral reasoning supposedly has a component of social justice. But social justice is not absolute in the world today. II. Activity 1. Watch   Moral Reasoning - Ethics Unwrapped (utexas.edu) 2. Cite 2 examples of Moral Dumbfounding that has happened in the Philippine government today. 3. How can a person be aware that his moral reasoning is flawed?

Moral Courage

 I. Introduction The classic works of CS Lewis- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are full of stories about moral courage. Doing the right thing to do when it is difficult to do the right thing. Standing bravely in a daunting situation. There are many instances of moral courage. Moral courage can be just standing alone and sometimes standing for another person.  II. Activity 1. What real and personal story of your life can be considered as moral courage? 2. What are the best ways to teach moral courage to your friends and younger siblings? 3. Feelings and Reason

 I. Introduction: Man is a homo sapien- thinking man. Even though man claims that he has the rational faculties that are above all other animals- he is still subject to the laws of nature. He can do things rationally in order to survive. He can make tools and other things that will ensure his security and safety.  However, there are cases that his feelings and emotions destroy his rationality and cognitive abilities. II.  Activity: 1. What is the value of man's feelings in connection to his survival skills? 2. Is there a conflict between emotions and reason in reaching one's own potential? 3. The Myth of Choice?

 Introduction: A choice is an illusion of the mind. Do you agree or disagree? If the human body functions without the reality of choice, does it mean that life is predetermined by natural forces.  If this is so, how does a person understand the consciousness of having a choice or the idea of making a choice.   Activity:  1. How do you know that you are conscious? 2. How can people realize their choices as part of their consciousness?
