Starting Points in Philosophy

 I. Introduction Philosophy is defined as love of wisdom. From an etymological standpoint, there are 2 words that provides a starting point of understanding philosophy. Philea means love. However, the greek word denotes love for a friend or neighbour. Love for a friend or neighbor means not only an absence of harm but a compassionate connection to a person. Sophia means wisdom. However, wisdom is not an exact idea but a compounded that carries insights, experiences and even discernment. It appeals to be practical and reasonable.  Bringing these ideas, Philosophy might mean a love of wisdom for your fellow man, the practice of knowledge for the benefit of a friend or a person. etc.  Technically, Philosophy is the practice of searching for meaning with the realities of life and its elements.  Philosophy seeks to understand life and thus make a person wise.  II. Life Statement

 I. Introduction Everyone has a life statement. A prisoner has a life sentence. The big difference is the freedom to pursue their potential and the quality that defines their life. II. Activity 1) Look online for a format of a life statement or create a format for yourself. 2) Write your life statement and explain it as clearly as you can?

Starting Point of Ethics

 I. Introduction Ethics is the study of the principles of morality. A person that is ethical should be moral. However, the issue of morality is subject to inconclusive and indefinite ways of understanding the issue of morality. The sources of morality becomes a norm based of accepting what is practice and not what is absolute and ideal.  Religion, opinions of men and other filters of doing what is right becomes relative.  II. Activity 1. What makes an ethical decision possible? Explain/ 2. In what ways, can I become more ethically aligned with my actions in society? Provide concrete steps.

Introduction to Work Values

I. Introduction           Everyone has work values. It is professed and practice. It is seen in how we              do work and how we value one's work.           But generally people knows they have their work values but has not identified           with well.           II.
