2. I think the listening skill is one main thing that i should to develop as a potential counsellor, because I have impatient attitude, yet I must discipline myself inorder to understand and help my client.
3. In my own opinion I think yes because some of the skills mention can be use in any profession like listening, how can a teacher understand their students if they are not listening or even reflecting what emotions , or behavior of their students. Hence this skills is strongly use in counselling field but in some cases there are some skills can be applied in some vocation because they also need those skills, inorder to understand the project, plans or even the person.

2. What skills do you need to work on as a potential guidance counselor?
- All of the skills that was being enumerated was really helpful to be a effective and potential Guidance Counselor. Listening, Empathy, Genuineness, Unconditional Positive Regard, Concreteness, Open Questions, Counselor Self-Disclosure, Interpretation, Information Giving & Removing Obstacles to Change are those skills that we must need to understand and learn but for all of this Nine basic Counseling skills i think having listening skills is very effective because the conversation between the clients and counselor will not be function successfully if they both not interested to be open to each other or the pattern of the conversation will not be effective if they saw to their actions that they are not comfortable to each other. because under of the listening skills was the characteristics of being attending were in you are allowing your client to have an assurance that as a counselor you are aware about what they say. and as effective listener it must have a eye contact and avoid having a distracted movements to avoid for the client to think that we are not interested about what she or he was sharing.
3. Are the counseling skills applicable to other vocations and professions? Explain.
- Yes all of the skills that was being mentioned is very applicable in any professions like Doctors, lawyer, teacher and so many more because like what skills i chose which is listening our profession will not became so effective if we are not good in terms of listening. for example if we became a lawyer the lawyer must be listen carefully to his or her client to make us know how we will deliver the topic properly in the court, and another is if we became a teacher as teacher we should also have a good listening skills especially if the head of the school wants something for us that we need to do and vice versa , we can also used that skills if our future students have a something to share to us. those skills for Guidance counseling is relevant also in other field.

2.What skills do you need to work on as a potential guidance counselor?
As a potential guidance counselor, I can say that I need to work on all of that stuff in order to be a good counselor and to help my potential clients problem. I said that I need to work on of all the basic skills because before I don't care in any people's feelings, what they are going through or what they are sharing, I always look upon my self and I don't care to anyone, I don't practice to feel others or hear others, because most of the time I always look upon my self and sometimes until now. It is hard to easily change my old self, and as a potential guidance counselor I need to be more first, I need to enhance all that basic stuff so that I can be more helpful to my potential clients.
3. Are the counseling skills applicable to other vocations and professions? Explain.
Yes, it is. On of the couseling skills is thw listening and this is what most of the need, a someone that will listen to their problems, a someone who can shared with. I always read a post of my facebook's friend telling that no person that they can really trust to share their problems and there are no one who really wants to genuinely listen to them. See how important listening is, most of the people only want a someone who can be a good listener for them and this is how important couseling skill is, how applicable it to others.

ReplyDelete2. What skills do you need to work on as a potential guidance counselor?
For me the Counselor Self-Disclosure because when the counselor discusses personal thoughts, life experiences, or certain responses to the client, this is known as sharing. It is standard practice not to self-disclose unless there is no other way to satisfy a therapeutic need for any reason. In that case, it should only include content that is important to their growth. However, remember that empathy does not imply having the same experiences as the client, but rather the ability to express what the client is experiencing and thinking in a compassionate and understanding approach.
3. Are the counseling skills applicable to other vocations and professions? Explain.
Yes, because I believe that even though is not a registered counselor, they can use these skills to help someone solve their problems in life. And to assist someone in being heard and to have a production techniques on their problems.

What skills do you need to work on as a potential guidance counselor?
Guidance counseling is not for everyone, and it takes someone with several important attributes to effectively guide students through the challenges they may face both at school and at home. Wherein communication is the big part of being a school counselor is listening to students, and then responding thoughtfully and effectively. While you may be able to develop these skills through training. Empathy. Guidance counselors help students dealing with bullying, disputes with friends, problems at home, and so much more. Friendliness. Students won’t want to share their problems with a school counselor who is perceived as being distant and cold. Understanding of diversity. Whether a student has problems at school or at home, a guidance counselor must consider how that student’s socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity may come into play. Knowing when to act. Unfortunately, guidance counselors at times have to help students dealing with neglect, abuse, risky behavior, or other dangerous circumstances.
3. Are the counseling skills applicable to other vocations and professions? Explain.
Counseling are very applicable in other vocations and professions which is every instructor, teachers, and professors they are counselors (but not licensed as counselor) I’m saying that everyone can be a counselor in every perspective but not limited to knowledge we had. Counselors are positively orientated and approach clients with a humanistic and holistic perspective. They try to develop skills and competencies to help clients create a regimen to improve and maintain their own mental wellness. In counseling the goal is to make clients independent and not need counseling to have a productive life.
