History of Guidance and Counseling
I. Introduction:
Some of the challenges of guidance and counseling today is the evolving disciplines that specializes its practice to a new approaches in terms of educational technology and technological education.
Since the industrial revolution, most of the functions of guidance and counseling has been shared by human resources and psychological clinic.
There are lifecoaches that seems to be moving to a new direction of helping people. However, with the legal parameters of the guidance and counseling act of 2004, it has confined the practice of counseling to license practioner.
History will be a good of reference of understanding phenomena, however history is not being rigid to old facts but being relevant to new ones.

>>> Yes it is, because if we go back and read the meaning of guidance and counseling, They are more on assisting young people for their life as they think, decide and reflect. This history will remind us that the inventor or father of Guidance and Counseling is helpful and relevant nowadays, because we can use guidance and counseling for our friends, family or strangers.

2. Yes because the history does not disappear in the presence on what the things we have for now, but those are the things that make counseling structured and concrete. It also a basis for the new study about counseling. Those history are the things must to understand if we were going to be in the vocation of counseling, yet it will be a way of a counsellor to be more effective and for awareness on how counseling origin, therefore history are still effective and relevance today those are the foundation that must to be understood it will guide counsellor to be more effective by treating their client.
3. The part of guidance in counseling is no longer relevant is seeing the students on what they become in the future. Their physical figure does not a sign on what they have to be, it is one of the thing i observed in colleges because the students must not limiting or predicting their future according their physical appearance. Most of the thing i see in colleges when it comes in counselling is more about guiding the students to achieved their careers in life.

2. Yes! History has been part of people's lives. What we have now are part of the history. History shaped us including guidance and counseling. Besides everything we have today such as, philosophy, scientific knowledge, mathematical coordinates and formulas have been part of the innovation of the history's discoveries.
3. Their physical appearance/ figure, it does not have any authority to limit someone in their dreams. If you have any deformation or disabilities it can't limit someone on what they want to achieve and what they can be in the future. Example, Nick Vujicic, he is very successful in his life even though he has deformities, Lizzie Velasques, she has been called to be the most ugly women in the world yet she is successful also. Physical figure shouldn't limit someone's dreams.

Yes, because of the contribution of people related to guidance counselling especially the Father of it, reaaly helps people nowadays. It became a profession of the people who have the ability to be a counselor and help people suffering with depression or coping with their emotional issues.
3. What parts of the guidance services are no longer relevant to colleges today?
I think part of guidance services that no longer relevant today is counselling students with their parents with their future career or plans in their future. They only have a test to identify what could possibly profession that fits to the students. Many students like me was confused on what am I going to pursue when I finish my highschool and I think that is very important.

2. Yes, its still relevant today, because in today's generation we need more counselors because as you can see many people specially teenagers suffering in mental health and counseling is one of way to those person.
3. I think the guidance service that is no longer relevant to day is the parents and children counseling when it comes in children's future career because it may cause confusion to the child like me and its is very important for me to know what i really want or what profession are suit to me.

Yes, the history of guidance and counseling was very relevant especially for this day. because the things that happen in our history should be treasure and it is really helpful especially for those people who are also want to be a future counselor and aside from that students like me need to understand that many people have a big contribution in the development of Guidance and Counseling and we need to recognize their study.

for me the parts of the guidance services that was no longer relevant in the colleges is the way of dealing with their problems, the counselor is not the first one who will ask if their is something wrong but the counselor allow the student to be the one come in the office of the guidance counselor and let the students share their problem.

- Yes , because as of now guidance and counseling is one of the needs of every person in terms of guidance counseling it is the way on handling and knowing the person. It helps the person to understand their situations.
3. What parts of the guidance services are no longer relevant to colleges today?
- One of the guidance services are no longer relevant to the colleges today is parents and counseling because their are times that the parents decide what the children need to get in terms of choosing the course for the future and there are situation that the children didn't get what profession they want because of the decision of their parents.
